Have you heard of experimental education? (Alternative education)
We all know, there are many forms and types of education. For example, traditional school education
asks students to acquire academic skills under a standardized same curriculum. However, this kind of system isn’t conducive for every learner.
The purpose of experimental (alternative) education is to improve childrens’ opportunity to select educational experiences and content based on their interest and talents.
As a result, more diverse and inclusive educational approaches have been gradually recognized by the public.
When there are a variety of educational approaches based on the values of dialogue and democracy, children can become citizens of the school community.
Through self-directed learning, they are also able to construct knowledge, examine multiple perspectives, and explore the complex world we live in.
After years of persistent effort,
Taiwan has become one of the few Asian countries to formalize and legalize experimental education.
Through Experimental education, children in this increasingly diverse and changing world
can learn in diverse ways, ultimately becoming the best versions of themselves.
